Sullivan City man dies in crash after fleeing police

A 42-year-old Sullivan City man died Thursday night after he failed to yield for a traffic stop resulting in a police pursuit which ended in a rollover crash. At about 7:20 p.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a maroon 2004 Ford F-150 solely occupied by Raul Garcia, according to a press release from the department. The reason for the stop was due to a traffic violation that happened on FM 1924 and Western Road. However, Garcia failed to stop and a pursuit ensued, according to the release. Garcia drove against traffic northbound on Moorefield Road heading toward FM 676 when he lost control of the F-150 and rolled over. Garcia was partially ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the crash.
